Sheridan Drive Baptist Church began as a Sunday School outreach of Lakeside Baptist Church in 1952. Rev. Walter Peterson, a church planting missionary, began pastoring in 1954. The Baptist General Conference supported the fledgling church in purchasing property on Sheridan Drive. Several men of God pastored during the first twenty years of both the spiritual and physical establishment of the church. The preaching of the Word of God and servant leaderships were emphasized during the pastorate of Rev. Stephen Rumley, 1979-2019. Church members gave sacrificially of time, labor, and resources for the multi-purpose building dedicated in 2015. In recent years, the elders have provided leadership during transition. Rev. David Kopka pastored from 2023-2025. In August 2026, Pastor Bergen accepted the call to serve as pastor. With a deep love for the Lord and a heart for the community, he is eager to lead the church in reaching others with the Gospel and making a lasting impact for God’s glory.
